I'm proud to be showing artwork from my SNACK ATTACK series in Black Earth Gallery's BITEme juried group exhibition. The show opening is Thursday, March 1st from 5-7pm for "First Thursdays Art Night in NewBo." There will also be a BITEme Pop-UP Dinner on March 15, 2018 during the exhibition. The exhibition will be on display through March 31st.
"Food Art for thought. There has been a long history about the relationship between food as art, as sensual, as political. We see food as art everywhere we turn. Food pulls all of our senses to attention immediately. Chefs strive to impress us with every bite being a beautiful and sensual experience. Some of my favorite food inspired movies are, Babette’s Feast and Sideways. My favorite visual food artists are Giuseppe Arcimboldo, still lifes of the Dutch golden age with tables teeming with fruits, ducks and silver platters, Post-Impressionist painter Cezanne, pop artists Wayne Thiebaud and Andy Warhol, political Feminist artists Miriam Schapiro and Judy Chicago and artist Tiberio Simone, just to name a few. This art historical theme and my passion for cooking and food experiences is how the BITEme show developed. So, go ahead, it’s ok to play with your food."
